Finally Back In Action

Tuesday 26 August, 2008 - 19:53 by Tim in Default

Made it in to work today finally. No dramas in my absence and not too many emails so all good.

The girls also went back to school today but rather reluctantly. I think they quite enjoyed (apart from the sickness) being at home and watching endless DVDs while being catered to.

Wifey is on the mend but still quite sick with a terrible cough. The boy is amazing. He got it the other night, spent the following day on the couch watching DVDs then had a sleep in our bed in the afternoon (that was yesterday) then he gets up - and he's basically fine. It seems to hit you harder the older you are.

Crossed

I've got my toes, fingers and everything else crossed - hopefully we have turned the corner. Wifey is at least coherent and able to get up for short periods although she still sounds and looks terrible. Eldest is on the mend I think - still asleep. Younger daughter is still not out of the woods although I think she's not far away. I'm exhausted, my feet, back and legs are aching - I'm not used to spending all my time on my feet. I have the utmost admiration for any single parent out there who manages to get through something like this. It's tough when the kids get sick but if your partner is not there to help it can be a nightmare.

What Day Is It?

Friday 22 August, 2008 - 19:01 by Tim in Default

I have to think twice. They're all blending in together at the moment. Didn't make it into work at all this week. Eldest daughter finally felt good enough today to eat a bit and watch videos. Other daughter still flaked it in bed with a high temp. Wifey has been in bed virtually all day today and yesterday. And the boy is being... the boy. It's been a hard few days. Finally found a few minutes - I think the boy has gone to sleep. Eldest daughter is watching Zena (her favourite). Other daughter still crashed in bed as is wifey. Strangely my symptoms have changed more into hayfever type - a lot of sneezing today, runny nose and watery eyes. No idea whether that is another twist to this virus or a completely different thing. This isn't the worst time ever with illness though - I remember a few years back we all had the flu - that was pretty bad. Worse than this. So like before it could be worse. I just wish it would end. For the family to be healthy again.

Could Be Worse

Wednesday 20 August, 2008 - 09:25 by Tim in Default

I'm still at home, haven't been to work this week yet - I've been at home helping out. Both girls are feverish still and wifey is coming down with it. I'm ok, still got a cough but it's not too bad. The boy is at kinder so we've got a couple of hours respite. He's coughing a bit but apart from that seems fine. So it's not much fun at the moment. Just cancelled my blues jam for tomorrow night - there's no way I could realistically do it this week. But I was just thinking it could be worse. Could be a lot worse. I could be a starving refugee lying in the gutter or something. So when you look at it relatively it's not so bad. At least I've got a good banana supply.

Monday A Day Of ?

Monday 18 August, 2008 - 09:46 by Tim in Default

At home today took the day off to help out - we've got both girls home sick, the boy is at kinder until 11 then the girls have to go to doctor at 11:30. I've put another shelf up this morning now scanning some more slides. Just trying to get a few odd jobs done while being around to help wifey out with the kids as necessary. Won't get much done after 11 so must get stuck into it.

Sunday A Day Of Lawnmowing

Sunday 17 August, 2008 - 19:19 by Tim in Default

I mowed the lawn today. Long overdue. Put up a shelf in the cupboard. Hung the note board up in the hall. Fixed the curtain rail in the art room. Yesterday I fixed the letterbox. I am Mr. Fixit.

Next job is to get another skip. There's a huge pile of rubbish that needs to go. Maybe that's next weekends job.

I'm feeling a little better. Still got a bit of a cough although it's eased up a fair bit now - enough for me to do a few things anyway.

The boy has just gone to bed and thankfully he hasn't been coming out (he's pretty tired) so I reckon he's probably asleep by now. We're having home made pizza tonight. The kids ate earlier. Mine is in the oven now.

Got lots of paperwork that I should be doing but bugger it - Sunday night - can't be bothered.... it can wait until tomorrow night. Monday night is a good paperwork night.

Astride My Trusty Steed

I think the horse was about 30 years old but she was a feisty one. Luckily I was able to draw on my exquisite horsemanship to tame the beast.
